I just received my 2009/2010 copy of Experience Magazine in the mail today.  For those of you who haven’t seen this magazine before, it is a magazine for lovers of the coastal life in the northeast.  When the editors contacted me a few months ago and asked me to send them some photographs from Molly and Adam’s wedding (whose wedding I photographed last year in Bar Harbor at the Bar Harbor Regency), I was surprised since the magazine is not wedding-related.  The editors told me that they wanted to use Molly and Adam’s wedding story to entice couples to take a second look at getting married in Bar Harbor/Acadia.  Molly and Adam’s wedding story (and a few of my favorite photographs from their wedding) appear on pages 78 and 79 of the magazine, followed by a spread on the Bar Harbor Regency itself.

After speaking at the Digital Wedding Forum Convention in Tampa in 2008, I was approached by one of the editors of Photographer’s Market 2009.  Every year the editors choose a wedding photographer to feature, and I’m pleased to say that they chose to feature me in the 2009 edition!  It is a five page feature in interview format- they asked questions from marketing to style to destination weddings, and a few of my clients had their images featured!

I was asked to speak again this year at Mystic 4, a photography convention in its fourth year in Mystic, CT.  Well, I just got home from the convention yesterday, and I sure am disappointed to be home already!  What an awesome convention and a great group of people!  I had so much fun giving my presentation, and I even have a pic of myself on stage courtesy of Jeff Newcum:

I just flew back from giving a seminar in Charleston, South Carolina!  The weather was fabulous, and the group was great!  Virgil Bunao, of CVI Photography, was an incredible host!  We also had two incredible couples!

We had a nice, long time with the first couple on day one:

Maybe my favorite shot of the weekend- on the side of a Mexican restaurant in a parking lot:

I looked at my calendar today and realized that it is less than one month until I will be giving the “Michelle Turner Seminar” in Charleston, South Carolina.  There is only one space left at this workshop, so be sure to email me asap if you would like to sign up for the workshop on Oct. 7 and 8!  What do we chat about?  Well, the seminar encompasses a lot of shooting (one shoot each day) and photoshopping, as well as a bit of marketing and posing thrown in.
Can’t make it to Charleston?  I will also be speaking at PPA Ohio’s convention on Nov. 10 (my 31st birthday!) if you are from that area of the country and would like to stop by!  Like the seminars that I gave earlier this year at the DWF convention in Tampa and at the photography convention in Mystic, CT, I will be speaking about light and posing with before and after shots at the seminar in Ohio.

I think that’s it for the rest of 2008!  It’s been a busy year for seminars- Tampa, Mystic, Maine, Boston, and South Dakota so far- so I’m not currently taking on any more seminars for 2008 (other than Charleston and Ohio, which are already set), but if you would like to schedule something for 2009, shoot me an email.

Day 2 from the Michelle Turner Photography Seminar in South Dakota! We hit downtown Brookings, SD, and found some really great urban backdrops before we headed back to Cory Ann’s studio to work on photoshop/enhancing/the evolution of the image. Our beautiful bride, Ashley, was absolutely fantastic! The flowers (from the previous day, too) were created by the extremely talented Sarah Green of House of Green. Here are a few of my faves from the day:

The Michelle Turner seminar - Boston style!

Over the past few days I taught a two day seminar in Boston to a group of wonderful photographers! We had a lot of fun and worked with a great couple and a great bride to create some fun, funky photographs in interesting locations! I had a great time with everyone, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s images from the shoot! Here are a few of my faves from the day:

First, the beautiful Heather put on her wedding dress and traipsed out to a farm:
