It is no secret that I LOVE San Francisco. So when I received an email from Cara about a year ago asking me to fly out to San Francisco to photograph her wedding, I was THRILLED!!! San Francisco is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Add to that the fact that the weather was absolutely gorgeous AND the fact that Cara and Chris are one of the most fabulous couples I have ever worked with, and you have the makings of an incredible day! To add to the fun, Cara and Chris saw each other before the wedding so that we could take a few photographs in San Francisco before heading over to the ceremony in Marin and the reception in Sausalito.
I loved all of the personal touches at the wedding- Cara and Chris are wine lovers, so the entire reception had a wine theme. They (along with Cara’s future sister-in-law) created so many of the little details themselves- it gave the wedding and the reception such a personal touch! They thought of everything- Cara and Chris even had bride and groom bears from Build-a-Bear workshop waiting for the flower girls and the ring bearer at their seats at the ceremony.

I am so excited to be posting this wedding from last week- I had been looking forward to Katie and Mike’s wedding ever since I photographed their engagement session last year in Kennebunkport. Plus, I knew that it was going to be beautiful- Katie and Mike were planning so many small details and of course the venue, Wheatleigh, is in a stunning location (Lenox, Massachusetts) and is an amazing estate. Their wedding didn’t disappoint- Katie had the most amazing Vera Wang wedding dress, and the flowers (by Crocus) were absolutely beautiful. And then there were all of the little touches- Katie’s mom found antique jewelry to encircle the base of the bouquets and it was a perfect match for the vintage ribbon that Crocus had wrapped them in. Katie had an exquisite dress to change into for the dancing- it was the perfect complement to the dress she wore for the ceremony. I also loved their ceremony- performed by a family friend, Katie and Mike wrote their own vows and invited their parents to help them plant a tree to symbolize their new life together. Ashlee and Alan were married at the beautiful Playa Fiesta Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They traveled from California to hold their gorgeous destination wedding, and I had such a wonderful time with this fun group. It was nice to see a former bride and groom in the bunch– Jen and John, whose wedding will forever be known as the “mankini wedding” to me.
Ashlee and Alan met several years ago when Ashlee joined a veterinary practice where Alan was the administrator. They dated secretly for a bit but it was soon apparent to everyone that they were meant to be. Ashlee and Alan live with their dogs and their cat– pictures of the animal portion of their family “dressed” in wedding and tropical garb graced the tables and served as centerpiece toppers. I set up the Photobooth for their wedding, and I have laughed myself silly looking through some of the photographs. And no, those photographs aren’t suitable for posting (yes, I’m talking to you, Alan).
