I photographed Cassandra outside of Las Vegas last week– it was a cold day in the Nevada desert, but she was a trooper as we found some great spots to shoot. This is one of my favorites from the day– I shot this with the Profoto B2 and the sunsilver reflector to balance the sun on the mountains behind her.
I had a few people ask me how this image was created, so I wanted to post a before image and a pullback here– on the left you can see what the image looked like when I exposed for the ambient light. Because the sun was hitting the hill behind her while she was in shade, I would have blown it out if I had exposed for Cassandra. I wanted to preserve the hill and the blue sky, so I exposed for those and brought out my light to light Cassandra and the truck– you can see the position of the light in the pullback on the right:
