Puerto Vallarta Wedding Photography at Las Caletas

Kathleen and Sherwin met through work- they are both respiratory therapists, and they met when Kathleen accepted a job at the hospital where Sherwin worked.  They knew that they wanted a destination wedding on the beach, and they were drawn to Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

From the bride:

The wedding details all came together as we wanted a hot pink and tangerine wedding theme . We wanted a small but romantic wedding and that’s exactly how it felt . When I walked down the aisle I couldn’t believe how beautiful and great the details looked . We had hot pink and tangerine rose petals down the aisle , along with 3 tall vases on each side with submerged flowers . The chuppa was organza white tulle with a white rose petal curtain in the back . We decided to do our own vows and it was the best thing we could decide to do because the words really came from our hearts .  My dad cried all the way down the aisle , but told a close friend of mine ‘that it was the happiest day of his life’…this really melted my heart .

Our first dance was Charlie Wilson’s “You Are”, dedicated by Sherwin to me and really had us both in tears.  My dad’s song was my “Mi Nina Bonita” by Vicente Fernandez which he has dedicated to me since I was 15 yrs old (so you see why we all had waterworks/tears in full effect most of night).

The tea lights all over left guests in awe and they tell me really was the most romantic wedding they’ve been to. Our firedancers were a surprise to everyone .  And the boat ride home we continued the party.   Really and truly the night was magical .  :)

When Kathleen and Sherwin told me that they were going to have the Las Caletas/Rhythm of the Night Fire Dancers perform at their wedding, I was really excited- they put on a fabulous show.  Kathleen shared some of the details from her wedding:
Dress: Henry Roth exclusive to Kleinfelds NYC
Jewelry: A gift from Kathleen’s mom– new earrings and a champagne bracelet
Sherwin’s suit: Hugo Boss
Bride’s Rings: Maevona and Hearts on Fire
Sherwin’s ring: Furrer-Jacot
Mexico tote bags, invitations, wedding programs: Thao Tran (memoriesoftoday.com)
Place cards: Wedding Divas (weddingdivas.com)
Congratulations, Kathleen and Sherwin!  I really enjoyed being a part of your day!
Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful Tuesday!

I photographed Kim and Brandon’s wedding over the holidays at Las Caletas, off of the coast of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  I love Las Caletas weddings- the whole experience from boat ride to boat ride is simply phenomenal!  Of course, Kim and Brandon’s wedding was absolutely beautiful- they brought a lot of details from the States with them, and some of my personal favorites include:

1) The stamps.  At first, I was just taken in by the colors and style of the stamps on the envelopes.  But then I looked closer and realized the significance and the amount of thought that went into it– there are stamps representing Arizona, Texas, the USA, Mexico, and LOVE.  Kim is from Arizona, Brandon is from Texas, they are both (obviously) from the USA, and they are getting married in Mexico and they are in LOVE.  :)   So wonderful!

2) The menus.  I normally see flat menus, which are usually wrapped into the napkins in some fashion.  Kim and Brandon twisted that around and wrapped their napkins in their menus! (LoveandFound on Etsy)

3) The vintage postcards.  There were quite a few of these- I only posted one in the blog preview, but I loved all of them!!

4) The Papel Picado Custom Banners were fantastic, and not something that I have seen recently at any weddings that I have photographed!  (Ay Mujer on Etsy)

5) My favorite detail, however, was the Custom Love Story.  Visually interesting, framed, and displayed at their wedding, the Custom Love Story gave the history of their relationship.  From the time they met (bowling on the same team at law school at UPenn) to the proposal (in Hawaii!!), it was so full of cute little details!!

Of course, one of my favorite events was the performance by the Las Caletas fire jugglers.  Hands down, I think these are the best fire jugglers in all of Vallarta.  What an amazing performance!  (And of course I loved the look on Kim’s face as they danced around her dress!!)  Kim and Brandon- thanks for including me in your celebration!  Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

I photographed the wedding of Karen and Rene at Las Caletas in Mexico in the spring.  They had such a wonderful story that I was so pleased that Heart Love Weddings wanted to feature their story and their images.  I’m pleased to say that their feature went live in the past week- head on over to read their story at Heart Love Weddings or see their original blog post by clicking here.
