The flowers that you choose for your wedding can say a lot about you- you can use these flowers to express yourself and set the tone for your wedding day.  Are you having a funky, eclectic wedding?  Do you want to add bold colors to your wedding day?  Or is your wedding casually elegant?  An amazing floral designer is worth his/her weight in gold when it comes to the event design.  So, how do you find the right one?

Make sure to look at their past work and give them ideas of what you are looking for, but leave room for creativity on their part.  Find out what they specialize in.

For example, two of my favorite floral designers in Maine are Judy Bourgeouis of Flora Fauna and Jeanne Russell of Verona Island Flowers.  They are both fabulous, but they are very different.  Every time I work with Flora Fauna, Judy creates a work of art on every table and for the bride to carry.  Give Judy an color palette and the mood you are going for, and her creativity will amaze you- she will integrate flowers into every part of your day.  She also offers event coordination.  Check out some of her colorful work below (top two photos, middle left and right, bottom middle/left).  Jeanne Russell is also fabulous- she grows most of her own flowers and she specializes in creating a bouquet using local blooms.  Her work is beautiful in an understated, casually-elegant way.  Check out some of her work below (bottom left). There are also coordinators that offer beautiful floral designs- Lindsay Burgess (of Playa Fiesta, although she does other weddings as well), Amber Small (of Sweetest Thing Weddings), and Kate Parker are just a few.
